This past January, Zion Episcopal Church located in Charles Town, WV, said farewell to their Rector of 14 years. Reverend Melanie McCarley’s contributions to Zion and its surrounding community were significant. In addition to leading weekly services, Bible study, and Vacation Bible School, Rev. Melanie coordinated the implementation of the county’s first Cold Weather Shelter to be housed at Zion. Her work with Community Ministries and the Monthly Meal Ministry fed many mouths and provided a welcoming atmosphere for people to gather. Through social justice and civil rights activism, she was able to bring national leaders to engage in a community-level dialogue. Her work set an example for community engagement and leadership.
Zion Church is engaged in the search process for a new Rector. We are faithfully working alongside our Bishop to recruit a talented and unique individual willing to faithfully serve the people of Zion and its community. We invite all interested persons to contact the Bishop of West Virginia, Rev. Klusmeyer or a Co-Chair of Zion’s Search Committee. Please review our Parish Profile and contact us with any questions.
