From the Sunday School Director’s Desk
Linda Work
February finds our Sunday school students studying the ministries of Jesus as teacher, preacher, and healer. Teachers will be focusing on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus used the Ten Commandments as a foundation on which to base his ministry. Main topics for lessons include the Beatitudes, prayer, and the Golden Rule.
Jesus taught that we must become like children to enter the kingdom of God. He associated this rule with childlike humility. His story implies that children understand truth that eludes their elders. Jesus taught that children should be welcomed and treated with hospitality. Our children will explore their own special places in the Christian community and how they can serve.
Watch over thy children, O Lord, as their days increase; bless and guide them wherever they may be. Strengthen them when they stand; comfort them when discouraged or sorrowful; raise them up when they fall; and in their hearts may thy peace which passeth understanding abide all the days of their lives, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
